How to add a Choon Player tune page
Go the Pages tab on the left hand side of the dashboard and select Add New.
Add title
Set the Title to the name of the tune – we’ll use what we did for Mountain Road as an example.
Add player
We use the Choon Player plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/choon-player/) to load a player that supports loops and slow down of the tune to make learning easier.
- Place the URL of the tune between the choon tags as shown below using a Shortcode block from the Block selector menu.
- You can use a full URL if you want to reference a tune on another site.
- Don’t put the URL on a separate line as WordPress will try to add a standard Audio player as well!
For example, if we add something like this:
[choon]/wp-content/uploads/mp3/mountain-road.mp3[/choon]
It should look like this:
This is a working version. Try:
- Pressing the Play button
- Adjusting the Speed slider
- Creating a loop using the Loop Start and Loop End buttons
Add ABC for dots
Place the ABC details between the choon-abcjs-music tags as shown below using a Shortcode block from the Block selector menu. This ABC came from The Session website (https://thesession.org/tunes/68)
If you find an ABC version that you want to alter to match your recording try using this simple editor called editABC from the NZ Irish Sessions website. Just paste in the ABC you want to edit.
If you want to show the traditional style blackboard ABC used in our Mountain Road example, you can use this Add Blackboard ABC tool to help automate adding the w: tags.
